Let my iPhone go!

Following the headlines making release, jailbreak, and subsequent bricking of hundreds of thousands of Apple iPhones, the market, desire, and need for a high quality unlocked phone is very clear. In fact, the locked nature of the iPhone is the main complaint I have about it. There are others - but Apple's deathgrip on it is by far the worst.
