Help for those who are willing to admit they need help

Do you or someone you love, or someone you know, suffer from a drug addiction? If so, there are plenty of agencies and programs out there that want nothing more than to help. The problem isn't that help is not available. Sometimes, it's just hard to find.

1800nodrugs.com is there to help. It is a not for profit organization that gathers information about addiction recovery services into one place. The information is free, and it is available on the web or on the phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The trite but true saying goes, The first step to solving a problem is admitting you have a problem. You can be drug addicted without being drug dependant. Just because you may not experience physical withdraws when not on drugs does not mean you are not addicted. Just because you think its okay to get stoned every once and a while doesn't mean you don't have a problem. You will never change your condition if you do not think you need to.

Once you have gotten past the desire to justify yourself and deny your problem, then you need to get help. You do not have to face this problem alone. There are people who can help. People who have been there. People who know how to solve this problem. People who care. People who have not just been there - but have been there and back. You can get help. You just have to want to try.

But what if you are not the one with the problem. What if it is someone you care about? Then there is help for you as well. You can help your loved one, but it will take work. And there are people who know how to help you help them. You can't conquer their addiction for you - but you can help convince them that they need to get help - and you can be ready to help them get the help they need. You can be there for them through the tough process as well.
