Accentuate the positive

There's a new book out on the subject of "appreciative coaching". It was co-authored by Sara Orem, a faculty member at Capella University. Ms. Orem's book is entitled "Appreciative Coaching: A Positive Process for Change". At Capella University, Ms. Orem works in the School of Business and Technology. It is at this school that a student may earn an online college degree. In addition to her teaching duties, Ms. Orem is also a coach and runs her own coaching firm, where she practices appreciative coaching.

This coaching process is based on the assumption that it is more productive to focus on human ideals, achievements, and best practices. This process is played out through the use of mindfulness, positive questions, and other tools that focus on and acknowledge the strengths of individuals, instead of their weaknesses.
