Multiple SKUs for Game Systems
Microsoft has released some stats for a new version of the Xbox 360. It's going to have a black case, a 120 GB hard drive, built-in HDMI support, and it supposed to run cooler and quieter than current models. Some say this is because of an updated CPU, but Microsoft isn't talking about that yet.
I understand the need to update hardware, I really do. However, continuing to sale the older out-dated models - and at the same price as before - is a bonehead move for game developers. Nintendo is often chided as the orginator of the new model every year game console (GameBoy, GameBoy Pocket, GameBoy Color, GameBoy Advance, GameBoy Advance SP, GameBoy Micro, DS, DS Lite, etc.) - but they either lower the price on the older model - or stop producing it. Try to go to a store and buy a "fatty" DS. If they have any, they're on clearance. Go ahead, go shopping. I'll wait.
See? I told you.
Anyway, I wish Microsoft would lower the price of the "Core" system of the 360. It's really outdated at this point. Heck - with no hard drive, it was obsolete on launch day.
