It's dark in there....

My apartment is old. Like the better part of a century old. (That means it's over 50 years old, for those of you not so good at math.) When I walk into my apartment, the living room is the first room I step into. In that room there are no light fixtures. There is, however, a light switch. Or perhaps I should just say a switch, because it is not connected to any light, at least not directly, or at least none that I have been able to find. There may be some little old lady in an apartment 3 blocks away thinking her place is haunted because I flip that switch. However, the switch, I'm sure, is connected to the power outlet on the other side of the room.

This is dumb. That's where my TV/TiVo/modem/router/stereo/xbox/ps2/DVD-burner-VCR-combo/VOiP-phone is plugged up. Why would I want to turn on all that stuff when I come home? Or better yet, why would I turn it off (especially my TiVo), when I leave? Not a good design. I want a normal ceiling light. I need to move.
