House hunting

Trying to find a place to live can be a task and a half. I've been trying to find information online about a property that I work right next door to, and it's almost impossible to find. I will likely be moving sometime this summer, so I'm looking for a place.

There is a lot to consider when looking for a home. They say there are three main things - Location, Location, Location. And there is a lot of truth in that. Larchmont NY Realtors can't really help me, since I want to stay in Chattanooga, but for people in New York State, I'm sure they can help.

Along with location, there are things like what school district are you in, (if you have, or are considering having children). Local taxes. Closeness to a hospital. The quality of the closest hospital. The nearness to your work place. The nearness to shopping. Weather issues. Is the house in a flood plain? Is it on a hill or mountain that can get snowed or iced in? Is this trailer in tornado alley? Lots of location specific questions to ask.

But aside from that, there are other considerations. Size. Do you need 2 bedrooms or 8? Condition of the house. Can you deal with a fixer upper, or do you need a brand new place with all the amenities? How many bathrooms do you need? Do you want a fireplace? All things to consider in house hunting.

Let the fun begin!
