Why would anyone live here?

Las Vegas is a vacation hot spot. I don't know why anyone would want to live there. The climate is awful. The crime rate is high. It's not the kind of place you want to raise your children. Las Vegas real estate must really be suffering for the sins of its city. Or so you would think.

But from October 2006 to November 2006 the asking price and the selling price of homes in that area rose 10%. And the price per square foot rose two percent from $197 to $207. And they are selling faster too. From 104 to 97 days on the market. That is, according to the website from Zip Reality.

So what does this all mean? Why are people moving to Sin City of all places? In January of 2004, Las Vegas was named the fourth most stressful city to live in within the United States. It even beat New York City and Los Angeles. (The first through third most stressful cities were Tacoma, Washington (What?), Miami, Flordia, and New Orlens, Lousiana (this was before Katrina), respectfully. This data coming from the City Mayors website. So, again, why would anyone want to live there?

It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. It must be for the money. Or if you really like gambling. Or maybe its the prostitution. I don't know. I just know that I don't plan on moving there any time soon. In fact, I don't ever place on visiting. What happens in Vegas can stay in Vegas for all I'm concerned. That way it won't affect me.
